As it is known in the industry bead mills are used for the wet grinding of chemical liquid products, which is the most adaptable, advanced, and efficient grinding equipment capable of continuous processing and discharging. There are many rotor structures or agitators for bead mills, mainly basket type, disc type, turbo type, pin type, etc.
The basket bead mill consists of an electrical cabinet, a rotating shaft, a pump blade, a grinding disc, and a stationary basket filled with high-strength grinding media. The rotating shaft with the grinding discs rotates at high speed, driving the grinding media to produce strong shear and crushing force to the slurry resulting in particles grinding and aggregations dispersing. Then, the ground slurry gets discharged from the grinding basket under gravity and the strong suction of the pump blade, so the ideal grinding effect is obtained.
Characteristics in energy saving, high efficiency, easy operation, and maintenance, it is widely used in the industries such as ink, color paste, dye, coating, etc. However, the output fineness from this type of bead mill is limited, generally lowest to tens of microns.

In the disc bead mill, multiple discs are on the rotating shaft in the chamber. The grinding media grinds and presses the particles in the slurry driven by the grinding disc on the rotated shaft. The qualified solid particles in the slurry pass through the filter gap or sieve hole smaller than the grinding media for the desired.
The chamber equipped with a cooling device prevents the large amount of heat generated by the shaft rotation and friction between the material and the grind beads to keep the product quality, or a heating device prevents the condensation of the slurry fed in from reducing the fluidity to keep the grinding efficiency. This type is suitable for grinding dyes, pigments, paints, coatings, medicines, and suspensions. The fineness is generally limited at the micron level.

The turbo bead mill pumps the premixed liquid-solid raw materials into the grinding chamber, and the main shaft drives the dispersion turbo disk to rotate at high speed getting grinding media to generate swirl and radial-axial movement, thereby achieving grinding and dispersing to the specified fineness and color saturation. It is widely used for ultra-fine grinding and dispersion of solid-liquid mixed products with medium and low viscosity in industries such as coatings, dyes, paints, medicines, magnetic powders, ferrites, photosensitive films, pesticides, and cosmetics. The grinding fineness of the turbo bead mill can generally reach several hundred nanometers.

The pin type bead mill is the most commonly used type on the market. The premixed raw materials are pumped into the grinding tank and rotated at high speed through the dispersion blades after filling an appropriate amount of grinding media such as glass beads. As a result, the grinding media under sufficient energy generates shear force to crush the dispersed particles thereby achieving the grinding effect. The final material is separated from the grinding media through a special separation device and then discharged.
The pin-type high-efficiency grinding structure is suitable for large-flow continuous and circular nano-level grinding, and the production efficiency can be increased by 30-50%. It is widely used in new nano-materials, magnetic materials, electronic ceramics, ceramic inks, lithium iron phosphate, alumina, and other industries.

Of course, there are rotor structure mixed bead mills, turbo+ pin, disc+ pin, etc., including dual-power bead mills. Bead mills using different grinding structures provide different corresponding grinding results and efficiency, and it is subject to various demands.
