The difference between dry grinding and wet grinding

At present, there are many processing requirements in the powder industry. With the increasingly fierce competition in the powder industry, more customers are heading to achieve more refined materials which reflects the powder industry is constantly developing in the direction of nano powders. Therefore, the previous single processing method is no longer applicable. And finding some related nano processing has been key to some companies.

The powder industry mainly uses physical mechanical grinding to get the nano-scale powders and materials, dry grinding, and wet grinding. For nano powder manufacturers, it is preferred to use dry grinding to obtain the final nanopowders. However, when using dry grinding, the temperature inside the grinding chamber will rise sharply due to a large amount of energy gathering in the small space, and how to avoid an explosion is difficult to control.

Therefore, it comes to wet grinding, which is the most effective and most economical method.

Dry grinding refers to the moisture content not exceeding 4% during the grinding, while wet grinding is to get the raw material suspended in the carrier liquid flow for grinding appropriately with dispersants and other additives to help.

When the moisture content exceeds 50%, the dust problem can be overcome in wet grinding. But wet grinding equipment generally consumes more energy than dry with great wearance to equipment.
